Skript
for six singers, percussion quartet and tape (2021)
For quite some time now, I have been dealing with composition and interpretation processes and not only in the form of research. Now and then I have also tried to thematise these very processes in music or even transform them into music. In “Script”, however, I am primarily concerned with the material itself. Concrete elements and actions such as paper, cardboard, parchment, books, reading and writing play a role for me. Even individual words - the carriers of the actual content, the semantics - are scrutinised, stretched, folded and sounded out. The atmosphere and acoustics of a library, in this case the University Library of Basel, are considered in the composition: the space is played with. Texts only flash up in the composition in a rudimentary and selective way, in the supposed ‘gesture of the present time’: in catchphrases.
“Script” is a spatial concert for six singers, percussion quartet and tape.
